After graduating from Kabataş High School for Boys with a good grade in 2000, Özlem Çolak graduated from Kocaeli University Faculty of Medicine, where she started her medical education, as the top student in 2006. While she was a student at the Faculty of Medicine, she did an internship at Humboldt University in Berlin. Following her compulsory service after university graduation, she successfully completed her specialization, which she started in 2008, at Ankara Training and Research Hospital Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Clinic. She aimed to create a different vision by working in many Plastic Surgery Clinics in Germany in order to increase her knowledge and experience during her specialization. After becoming a specialist, she did compulsory service in Sinop. In 2014, she started working as an operator doctor at Okmeydanı Training and Research Hospital. During this period, many national and international articles were published and she attended many meetings and congresses as a speaker. She received the title of Associate Professor in 2019.
